FROM FR TIM

CORRECTION:

Firstly, my apologies for attributing such scientific insight to ‘astrologers’ when, of course, I should have said ‘astronomers’. There are plenty of warnings about the dangers of astrologers in the Scriptures and how they can lead us astray, so beware. My thanks to Mary K for the response

HOLIDAYS:

At last I am escaping for a week. Hopefully, all will be quiet in the coming days. All the weddings and funerals have been celebrated and there are no baptisms this weekend. Bishop Ralph has flown out to Gibraltar for some special events over the next few weeks but plans to be back with us in the middle of October. We wish him a thoroughly enjoyable time. Immense thanks to Fr Joseph Musendami who returns to Rome on Wednesday. Once again it has been a joy to have him with us and benefit from his gentle and compassionate ministry. He is also a very gifted preacher. Once again we wish him every success as he works towards the completion of his doctoral thesis in Rome.

QUOTATION OF THE WEEK:

Fr Tim would like to share a quotaion with you from 'Three Days to see' from Helen Keller.  The whole piece can be found at "Three Days to See" as published in Atlantic Monthly (January, 1933) | American Foundation for the Blind, Scroll down to paragraph 9, and read it.

(Helen Keller went blind and deaf when she was only 19 months old.)

LIVESIMPLY TOGETHER

We aim to live more simply, sustainably and in solidarity with others

The theme for this year’s Season of Creation - 1 September to 4 October - is ‘Living Water’ as Christians around the world join together in prayer and action to protect our common home.

There will be events in our archdiocese and in our parishes celebrating the season of creation. After our heatwaves this summer it is a perfect time for us all to reflect on what we can do. Will you be joining the creation walk on 5 September?  Will you be taking part in the plant and seed giveaway?  Is it time to support charities like Water Aid who bring the gift of sustainable water supplies to remote communities?
