ARCHDIOCESAN YOUNG ADULT GROUP MEETING

Anyone aged 18-35 is welcome to join the Archdiocesan Young Adult Group, meeting fortnightly at the Pauline Book Centre (L1 3AY). NOTRE DAME SCHOOL REUNION

There will be a reunion on Sunday 15 November for all ex-pupils and teachers, starting with refreshments at 10:30am with Mass at 11:30am followed by a buffet lunch and raffle at the Irenaeus Centre, Waterloo, L22 1RD.

ARCHDIOCESAN GOOD NEWS – 50 YEARS AN ALTAR SERVER
Peter Thomas, altar server at St Aloysius Church, Roby, celebrated his 50th year as an altar server this weekend.
This impressive milestone was celebrated in the parish with Mass on Sunday, celebrated by Archbishop Sherrington and Concelebrated by parish priest Father John Ealey, where Peter received a Gold Medal from the Guild of St. Stephen.

ARCHDIOCESAN GOOD NEWS - ST MARY'S PARISH CENTRE BILLINGE MAKES BLEED KIT ACCESSIBLE
In 2024, all parish centres across the archdiocese installed bleed kits to save lives in the event of a life-threatening bleed, with the help of charity Knifesavers.
Several, including St Mary's Parish Centre in Billinge, kept the kits behind the bar, but following an incident nearby, parish centre manager Adele Ritson has moved the kit to an outdoor defibrillator box, making it accessible even outside the centre's operating hours.
Adele commented to St Helens Star: "We have it behind the bar but with the incident in Moss Bank being so close to home I realised that it would be better for it to be accessible to the public when we are closed."
Staff were given training when the kit was installed, but Adele now hopes to arrange refresher training for staff and potentially offer sessions to members of the public.
GOOD NEWS – YOUTH MASS
The Young Adults who attended the recent Youth Mass were asked "What future hopes do you have about the young adult ministry in the church?"
Some of the responses received were
‘To continue to bring young adults together and help people grow in faith and know there's other young adults who love their faith’

ARCHDIOCESAN GOOD NEWS - A CELEBRATION OF CULTURE
Our Lady Queen of Martyrs & St Swithins Church recently held a wonderful celebration of culture, diversity, community and faith, Following a fantastic Mass, the community stayed together and shared a feast, with food from cultures the world over, where they learned about each other's home cultures.
Parishioners greatly enjoyed the day, commenting "what a beautiful celebration!" "I really enjoyed the service today".

DISCOVER LUTYENS CRYPT
Hidden beneath Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral is an architectural treasure with a remarkable story to tell.
Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in the 1930s, the Crypt is all that remains of his ambitious vision for a cathedral that would have rivalled St Peter’s in Rome. Today, its deep purple brickwork and soaring vaulted ceilings offer a glimpse into what might have been.
Often described as Liverpool’s third cathedral, the Crypt is well worth exploring for its striking architecture and fascinating place in the city’s history.

GOOD NEWS: ORDINATION OF FR DAN HOWARTH
Congratulations to Father Daniel Howarth, who was ordained on Saturday! Fr Dan was ordained in St Oswald's Church in Padgate, and also celebrated his first Mass there the following day.
We pray for our newest priest Fr Dan to have a long, rich ministry. Congratulations!
GOLDEN BOOK
The Golden Book offers a lasting way to remember loved ones, both living and deceased, at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. More than half a million names have been inscribed across its 17 volumes over almost a century.
Each name is included in the intention of a Mass celebrated at the Cathedral on the first Friday of every month. For £15 per entry, donors also receive a numbered certificate confirming the enrolment.

Over 11-14 September 2027, the archdiocese will be making a pilgrimage to Fatima. This is open to everybody, regardless of age or parish.

MARYS MEALS – CHRISTMAS WREATH MAKING WORKSHOPS

Our Lady Help of Christians, St Helens, are hosting a festive wreath-making workshop in their church hall to help raise money for Mary’s Meals, bringing hope and daily meals to children around the world.
There are two sessions available on the day: 10am-12pm or 2pm-4pm
The session, which includes tutor, all necessary material, and refreshments, costs £35 per person.
Please bring your own scissors, secateurs, and/or apron if you wish.

NUGENT CHRISTMAS TOY APPEAL:
Nugent’s Christmas Toy Appeal is back! We are welcoming donations of new, unopened toys and gifts for primary ages (4-11) and secondary aged (11-16) children, suitable for both girls and boys.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTER TRAINING
📅 Date: 28 November
📍Location: The Irenaeus Centre (L22 1RD)
This course examines our baptismal calling, Vatican II’s teaching on ministry, and the role of the Eucharistic minister. It also offers an opportunity to celebrate our place in the Church’s synodal life. Parishes are encouraged to enable the faithful to receive Communion as both the Body and Blood of Christ. This is an ideal opportunity to involve new ministers and, where this is not already the practice, restore Communion under both species.
The day runs from 9.15 am to 4pm Parishes are asked to contribute £15 per attendee to cover costs. Places must be booked and paid for in advance.
YOUTH SUNDAY CELEBRATION

📍 Location: LACE
Come and join us for our Youth Sunday Celebration at LACE! The fabulous ‘One Hope Project’ are hosting the day, and there will be guest speakers on the theme of TAKE COURAGE, I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD. The workshops will be on Courage to Listen, Courage to Pray, and Courage to Act.
The day will start at 10am and finish with Mass together with Archbishop John Sherrington at 5pm. There will be a marketplace of information and groups to get involved with.
Please bring a packed lunch.
The day is free and open to all young people in Secondary school, but they must apply for tickets and attend with a chaplain, teacher, or youth leader/ catechist.
The ratio is 1 adult to 8 young people aged 11 or 12; and 1 adult to 10 young people aged 13+. (Parents must give young people permission to attend and give leaders permission to share young person’s information with the archdiocese.)

To be led by trained lay facilitators, the 4-session course will help the couples develop skills which could facilitate good communication within their relationship and an understanding of sacramental marriage within Catholic faith.
