ARCHDIOCESAN GOOD NEWS - ADOREMUS 2026

Hundreds of faithful gathered in the Metropolitan Cathedral to the celebrate Adoremus last Saturday 10 October. We had Holy Masses, Eucharistic Procession and Benediction, and various workshops which helped us to renew and deepen our devotion to the Holy Eucharist. Let’s give thanks to God for the gift of the Eucharist and His continued presence in our life.

JUBILEE PRAYER

ETERNAL FATHER, we praise and thank you for the life of Saint Gerard Majella, born 300 years ago to be a light and a sign of hope in the Church and in the world.

JESUS, OUR REDEEMER, we desire to follow you, inspired by the example of Saint Gerard Majella, embracing the cross of each day with love and humility in service to the most abandoned, especially the poor.

HOLY SPIRIT, enlighten our minds and hearts to discern and fulfill the will of God with joy. Teach us to be brothers and sisters, and, with Saint Gerard, to promote fraternity and peace.

MARY, Mother of Perpetual Help, you who dwell in the communion of saints with Saint Gerard, pray for the Redemptorist missionaries, that they may persevere in their vocation and mission. Bless families and awaken in the hearts of young people the desire to follow Jesus in consecrated religious life. Amen.

The deacon embodies the spirit of service and compassion in the Church, a man who is dedicated and humble, uniquely ordained to help both the spiritual needs and the practical needs of a community. Candidates for the diaconate are typically mature men between the ages of 30 and 65. If they are married, they must be in a stable sacramental marriage.

The journey to discern if you have a calling to the diaconate involves asking yourself If you have a genuine desire to serve God and His Church in this capacity.

We invite you to attend either or both of our enquirers’ events to learn more about the role of deacons, their ministry in parish life, and to support your prayerful discernment,

Father, 

we thank you for the blessings you have given us in Christ our Redeemer.

Let your Spirit overshadow your people, making your gentle invitation heard in many hearts.

Lord of the Harvest, bless the Redemptorist family throughout the world with many vocations,

so that those in greatest need will experience the Good News of Redemption.

May your love grow among us and your kingdom come

through Christ our Lord.

WHATS ON AT IRENAEUS OCTOBER TO DECEMBER

EVENING PRAYER AND CANTATA - LIVERPOOL BACH COLLECTIVE (CANTATA 36)

Liverpool Bach Collective will be performing this Cantata to mark the First Sunday of Advent. It is called Soar joyfully towards the exalted stars. All are welcome. It is free to attend, with a retiring collection.
