TOTS & CO:
Allerton URC Church Hall , 9.30am – 11.30am
Allerton URC's Toddler Group, TOTS &Co, reconvenes. We are a friendly carer and toddler group and we meet every Tuesday morning during the school term. There are toys, books, dressing-up costumes & puzzles and we offer a craft activity and singing during most of the sessions. We charge £2 for each child which includes refreshments of tea and coffee for the adults, and juice and biscuits for the children.

Little Fishes resume, this is a lively, friendly group for parents, carers, grandparents, etc and their child (0-4 years). We meet once a week from 9.45am – 11.45am in the church hall.

Baby & Toddler’s Group: Mossley Hill Church, 10am – 12.00pm
CAMEO (come and meet each other) Baby and Toddler’s group resume at Mossley Hill Church centre on a Friday morning during term time, with Playtime, Refreshments and Story time. All pre-school children with parents or carers welcome. NB This is the last Session before the Summer.
CTMH WALKING GROUP – ST MARKS COMMUNITY GARDEN PROJECT
📅 Date: Monday 14th September
📍Meet: Meet at the Bus Stop outside Childwall Valley Dental on Childwall Valley Road (by Childwall Fiveways) to catch the 79 bus at 10.52 which gets to Hartsbourne Avenue at 10.55.
Description: Visit to the Community Garden project at St Marks Church, followed by a 1.5 hour walk through local parks and village gardens as well as a bit of the loop line, passing the Wayside Cross, with a detour to All Saints Church Childwall, and then through Childwall Woods to finish at Woolton Road / Childwall Park Avenue near the bus stops for the 75, 78, 81/81A and 86C buses.
Please bring: bus passes/ day tickets, packed lunch and mobile phone.

SFX EXAM SUCCESS:
Congratulations to all year 11 students, their families and all the staff at SFX on this year’s outstanding results. Many students will now continue their education at SFX Sixth Form, while others will progress to colleges, apprenticeships and training providers as they pursue a wide range of career aspirations. ST FRANCIS XAVIER'S STUDENTS CELEBRATE A MEMORABLE RESULTS DAY
Year 11 students at St Francis Xavier's Catholic Academy (SFX), Woolton, returned to school on Thursday, 20 August to receive their GCSE and BTEC results, marking the end of their secondary education and the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
Throughout the morning, students caught up with teachers and reflected on the friendships, experiences and opportunities that had shaped their time at the school, before discussing their next steps with staff and senior leaders.
Founded in 1842, SFX has been at the heart of Catholic education in Liverpool for almost two centuries. Today, as part of St Joseph Catholic Multi Academy Trust, the academy continues to combine its proud history with high expectations, helping young people develop the knowledge, character and confidence to flourish.
This year's results reflect positive outcomes across GCSE and BTEC qualifications, with Spanish and IT among the standout subjects following notable improvements on the previous year.
Overall, 55 per cent of students were awarded grades 9-4 in English and mathematics, while there was also an overall 64 per cent increase in high-end grades 9-7.
Students studying BTEC qualifications also performed strongly, with 10 per cent achieving Distinction* or Distinction grades.
Many students will now continue their education at St Francis Xavier's Catholic Sixth Form, while others will progress to colleges, apprenticeships and training providers as they pursue a wide range of career aspirations.
Mr David Hayes, headteacher of St Francis Xavier's Catholic Academy, said: “Today is a proud day for our Xaverians. Watching this year's Year 11 students reach this milestone has been incredibly rewarding, and today's results are a reflection of everything they have contributed to school life.

St Francis Xavier's Catholic Academy will open its doors to prospective students and their families at its open evening on Thursday, 24 September between 4pm and 7pm. The event will provide an opportunity to explore the academy, meet staff and students, and discover more about life at SFX and the opportunities available to those joining in September 2027
SHOWING OF “THE PEOPLE’S EMERGENCY BRIEFING”

The film features footage from last year’s National Emergency Briefing, bringing together leading UK experts in climate science, food security, health, economics, national security and nature. It presents a clear, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting life in the UK. The initiative is non-partisan and has support from organisations including National Trust, Church of England, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, National Education Union, and many more.
Following the 50-minute film, we will host a 45-minute discussion on what it means for our community.
ALIVE WORSHIP CELEBRATION:

INVITATION TO JOIN THE CATHOLIC HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER TEAM
Due to the growing need to support Catholic patients at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital, the Chaplaincy Management invites kind and caring individuals to join the Catholic hospital volunteer team. This apostolate involves listening, praying, bringing Holy Communion to patients, and offering a comforting Catholic presence.

PILKINGTON CHOIR CONCERT
📅 Date: Sunday 4 October 2026 at 6pm
📍Meet: St Francis of Assisi Church Garston
As part of the celebration of the 800th anniversary of St Francis of Assisi on Sunday 4 October, the Pilkington Choir will be giving a concert in the church at 6.00 pm. This will be followed by refreshments in the Meeting Room.
The Pilkington Choir was founded in St Helens in 1956, and I was recently privileged to attend their Platinum Jubilee Concert at the church of St Austin, Thatto Heath. They have long performed extensively in St Helens and the surrounding area (e.g. Ashton-in-Makerfield).
Tickets will be available at St Francis of Assisi from the weekend of 22/23 August at the price of £5 each (to support the choir).
There will also be a raffle as part of the proceedings. Further details to follow about ticketing and the raffle.

The NYCI need volunteers for Wednesday's food pantry service. This service provides pantry essentials and fruits and veg to around 50-60 households, and volunteers are needed for logistics, assisting shoppers, distribution and making all feel welcome. For more info email:

SOUTH LIVERPOOL CATENIAN CIRCLE
The South Liverpool Catenian Circle meet every second Monday of the Month at the Liverpool Cricket Club from 7.30 pm. followed by dinner at 8pm
Several times per year they are joined for dinner by wives, partners and guests.
And social events provide further opportunities for all.
