SEASON OF CREATION WALK 

📅 Date:Saturday 3 October

📍Meet:   Holy Family Church 11am

 We will meet at Holy Family Church at 11 o’clock. Our reflective walk will take us through the Halewood Triangle stopping at the Ducky Pond, which will allow us time to consider this years theme of water. We aim to arrive at St Marks by 12 o’clock,  where we will have a short prayer service, including a blessing of the newly established Parish garden. The morning will finish with tea in the hall. All are welcome. ( For those not able to walk there is the opportunity to join us at either end). 

SEASON OF CREATION 2026  PRAYER SESSIONS AT ST MARYS:

To mark the Season of creation St Mary's will be opening the church on Saturdays 5th, 12th and 26th September, for a time of communal and private. prayer. Please note St Mary' church grounds are closed in the 19th .

SEASON OF CREATION 2026 - CELEBRATE. PRAY. ACT TOGETHER FOR OUR COMMON HOME.

The parishes of St John Vianney have a programme of events to mark the season of creation – all welcome.

 ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION AT SVP CHURCH

📅 Date: Wednesday 23 September – 7PM

📍Meet:  St Vincent de Paul Church, 13 Hardy Street, Liverpool, L1 5JN

There will be a a Roundtable Discussion during the Season of Creation on the documentary: The People's Emergency Briefing. It will be an interactive screening and conversation on how Christians are called to care for our common home.

Doors open at 6:45pm.

 SHOWING OF “THE PEOPLE’S EMERGENCY BRIEFING” 

📅 Date: Tuesday 15 September 7.00pm

📍Meet: The parish rooms of St Anne’s, Overbury Street, Liverpool L7 3HJ.

The film features footage from last year’s National Emergency Briefing, bringing together leading UK experts in climate science, food security, health, economics, national security and nature. It presents a clear, measured overview of how the climate and nature crisis is affecting life in the UK. The initiative is non-partisan and has support from organisations including National Trust, Church of England, Exeter University, the Royal Meteorological Society, WWF, National Education Union, and many more.

Following the 50-minute film, we will host a 45-minute discussion on what it means for our community.

JUBILEE GARDEN PROJECT.

The Ecological Conversion Group invites parishes, schools and individuals to get involved in the Jubilee Garden Project, in partnership with The God Who Speaks. The project encourages us to use physical space to heal, transform and renew our relationship with God and the earth.

Preparing the Ground – Thursday 10 September, 1.00pm or 7.00pm
Two online sessions exploring what a Jubilee Garden could look like in a parish, home, religious community or school setting.

LIVESIMPLY AWARD CELEBRATION JUNE 2024

In June we celebrated (simply!) not only achieving the CAFOD LiveSimply Award, but also the amazing spirit of cooperation between our parishes and between many groups within the parishes, that made this achievement possible. Thank you everyone!

Each parish received a wooden plaque, hand finished by artisans in Cambodia. The wood is sustainably sourced acacia and making the plaques enables the people with disabilities who make them to earn their own income. Once they are fully mounted both plaques will be proudly displayed  in our two churches.

Nearly NewFashion Show Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who helped to make our Fashion show a success!   It was a fabulous and fun afternoon and it was great to see so many people there.  We are delighted to have raised £1300 for CAFOD. 

We started with a sparkling cream tea followed by our fashion show, modelled by our fantastic volunteers and showcasing some of the many new and nearly new items that people had so kindly donated.  Thank you to our donors, everyone who was there to support us on the day and to those who couldn't make it but still contributed.

It really does support our Live simply aims –

living sustainably by choosing to reuse instead of buying new and

in solidarity with others by raising funds for CAFOD to help our global family and donating some unsold items to asylum link and Barnados.

It’s always fantastic to see our parish community of all ages coming together to support the event and to have fun. 

Thank you once again and we are looking forward to our Autumn event!

Climate Crisis: What can I do?

On Thursday 30 November, to coincide with the first day of COP28, the church hall at St Mary's was converted in to a TV studio for a special edition of Question Time entitled Climate Crisis: What can I do?

Chaired by our very own Bill Chambers, the Panel comprised Paula Barker, MP for Wavertree; Ged Edwards, CAFOD Coordinator; Liz Makinson, Councillor for Calderstones; Liam Robinson, Leader of Liverpool City Council; Paul Rooney, Deacon and Environmental Academic.
