This section of the website reflects Bishop Eton's Live Simply journey  For St Mary's journey visit https://www.stmaryswoolton.org.uk/en/living-simply

In March 2024 both parishes were awarded the Live Simply Award.
In September 2025 the parishes of Our Lady of the Annunciation Bishop Eton, St Mary's Woolton and St John Vianney joined forces to form LiveSimplyTogether

Purpose:

We care about Creation and we care about people who are living in poverty.

We celebrate the wonders of the natural world and the diversity of our brothers and sisters, both here and right across the planet.

We are really worried about the impact that the climate crisis and other environmental threats are having on our world, particularly the impact on the poor.

We are committed to promote a variety of actions and initiatives across our two Parishes, which will help us to live out our faith by caring for our common home.

Aim

We aim to be a catalyst for change, inspiring the parishioners of Bishop Eton and St Mary's to live more simply, more sustainably and in greater solidarity with the poor.

Patron

Prior to his death in April 20206 Fr Jim Casey C.Ss.R was our patron, there are no plans to replace him.

LIVESIMPLY MESSAGE 2ND JUNE 2024

 Saturday 8 June.

On Saturday 8 June Bishop Eton and St. Mary’s will be celebrating achieving the LiveSimply Award from CAFOD.  This journey began in September 2022 and we now have a flourishing LiveSimply movement across the two parishes.  Our celebration will begin at 2.00pm in the Monastery garden here at Bishop Eton with a short reflection.  We will then walk together (or drive, if required) over to Woolton for a second reflection followed by a simple shared picnic in the grounds of St. Mary’s.  All parishioners are invited to join us; you will be most welcome

Nearly NewFashion Show

Thank You!

  Live Simply Logo

Thank you to everyone who helped to make our Fashion show a success!   It was a fabulous and fun afternoon and it was great to see so many people there.  We are delighted to have raised £1300 for CAFOD.

We started with a sparkling cream tea followed by our fashion show, modelled by our fantastic volunteers and showcasing some of the many new and nearly new items that people had so kindly donated.  Thank you to our donors, everyone who was there to support us on the day and to those who couldn't make it but still contributed.

It really does support our Live simply aims –

living sustainably by choosing to reuse instead of buying new and

in solidarity with others by raising funds for CAFOD to help our global family and donating some unsold items to asylum link and Barnados.

It’s always fantastic to see our parish community of all ages coming together to support the event and to have fun.

Thank you once again and we are looking forward to our Autumn event!          FashionshowApr2024

LIVESIMPLY MESSAGE 28TH APRIL 2024

Save the date: 2.00pm Saturday 8 June.

Our two parishes will celebrate achieving the CAFOD LiveSimply Award on the afternoon of Saturday 8 June.

LIVESIMPLY IN BISHOP ETON AND ST MARY’S

With the blooming of Spring we thank God for all our blessings and recommit ourselves - as LiveSimply parishes - to pray, hope and work for the 'resurrection' of our earth and all the people with whom we share it. Later this month people around the world will celebrate Earth Day 2024 (on 22 April). A main theme this year is to call for a strong UN Treaty on plastic pollution and demand an end to fast fashion. In response, last month our parishes took part in the Big Plastic Count and later this month (on 27 April) we will hold our fourth Nearly New Fashion Show, finding new homes for pre-loved items of clothing.

The latest meeting of our LiveSimply team will be held at St Mary's presbytery at 7.00pm on Tuesday 16 April; every parishioner is welcome to join us.
