ompsNew Novena Prayer to OLPS

Many of you are familiar with the Novena prayer to OMPS that contains the line 'We think of you, Mother at the foot of the cross'.   The Redemptorists in Ireland have slightly modified the prayer to reflect the times we are living in.

Thank you to https://www.redcoms.org/ for making this prayer available.

Mother of Perpetual Help, with the greatest confidence we come before your holy picture to beseech your intercession.

We think of you, Mother, at the foot of the Cross. Your heart must have bled to see your Son in agony. But your joy was great when He rose from the dead, victorious over the powers of evil.

Mother of Sorrows, pray for us in this time of trial. Help us not to lose heart. Intercede for your people who are afflicted with Coronavirus. Comfort your people who are vulnerable and anxious. Protect healthcare workers who put their lives at risk. Inspire our leaders to make good decisions. Change our hearts so that we may act responsibly.

Teach us to trust in God’s love and mercy and to share with you the joy of having courageously faced up to all the challenges of Life. Amen.

PRAYER

O God who has granted your servant Bernard an apostolic fervour and strength of spirit to carry his cross, we beg you to allow that he, who gave his whole life to lead the people to the Kingdom of Truth and Love, may intercede for us with you and obtain for us the graces for which we pray with faith, through Christ our Lord Amen.

Hail Mary …

Glory Be …..

Venerable God’s Servant, intercede for us

Although it is normally recommended to go to Confession, attend Mass and receive Holy Communion throughout the Novena this will not be possible (during the Corona Virus crisis).  Simply make an Act of Contrition and a Spiritual Communion.

Information about graces received through Fr Bernard Łubieński’s intercession should be sent to

“It is a profound spiritual experience to contemplate our loved ones with the eyes of God and to see Christ in them. We can be fully present to others only by giving fully of ourselves and forgetting all else”

(Amoris Laetitia 323)

As family members in order to see each other in this way means to put down the iPhone, iPad, turn off the computer and TV and pay attention to the loved ones in our lives. We need to focus on who is in front or what’s in front of us and give them our time and attention in loving and caring ways

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to possess you within my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as being already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you.

Fr Tim has converted this prayer so that it is easily understood by the younger ones

Dear Jesus,I believe that you are truly present in Holy Communion I love you and would love to receive you now, but since this is not possible, please come to me and fill me with all the blessings and graces I need to cope with everything that is going on. Unite us all and give us the peace which you promisedonly you can give.Amen.

“All of us should be able to say, thanks to the experience of our life in the family: (It is through this that) ‘We come to believe in the love that God has for us’”

(Amoris Laetitia 290)

Introduce prayer into your child’s life/remind your child about prayer by asking them to name their blessings before bedtime and thank God together for the joys in their life.

A PRAYER IN TIME OF DANGER AND ILLNESS.

candleThe Archbishop has asked that the following prayer be widely circulated and prayed at this time of crisis.

God Our Father,
each person is precious to You.
You are the Giver of life.
Have mercy on us and protect us at this time,
as the Coronavirus threatens health and life.
You are an ever-present Helper in time of trouble.
Watch over those who are suffering,
give strength to those who are aiding the Sick
and give courage to all in this time of anxiety.
We ask this of you in the name of your Son Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

“The educational process that occurs between parents and children can be helped or hindered by the increasing sophistication of the communications and entertainment media.”

(Amoris Laetitia 278)

New forms of communication enable family members who live apart to keep in touch but there are also risks to family life as a result of these new forms of communication and media. In your particular family setting reflect on the extent to which the benefits of these new forms outweigh the risks and what you can do to monitor and improve this experience for your family.
