CAN I VOLUNTEER TO HELP WITHIN THE PARISH ?

The Redemptorist community is blessed with many wonderful priests, but most are retired or semi-retired.  Therefore we need volunteers to help with all aspects of parish and community life.   (A flavour is given below - it is not exhaustive).  If you feel you can help please fill in the volunteer form  click here  and return to the parish office.

Some opportunities eg the diaconate will require a period of training, others will be subject to a DBS check

LITURGY

Sacristans; Readers; Bidding Prayer Writers; Flower arrangers; Servers; Musicians; Singers; Children’s Liturgy (Little Church)

CATECHISTS

First Holy Communion; Journey in Faith (RCIA); Confirmation;Available to accompany individuals (adults and children); Baptismal preparation; Marriage Preparation

HOW DO I GET AN INSCRIPTION ENTERED IN THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE?

To request an entry be made in the book of Remembrance,  pick up a form in the porch, or download by clicking here.  Fill in the form and once complete return it to the monastery.

How can I leave money to the Archdiocese or the Redemptorists?

After providing for your loved ones in your will, you may wish to leave a gift to the Church.

If you would like to remember the Archdiocese or the Province in your will, you will need to provide information to your solicitor

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT STREAMING


PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

The streaming schedule must be set in advance, and the length of the stream set to ensure the whole Mass is streamed/recorded.  In addition, the streaming begins 5 minutes before the Mass/Service is scheduled to start as in the early days sometimes the beginning of the Mass was not being streamed.

Please note that the streaming camera uses the PA system, and whilst the PA system is active, noises, can be picked up.   The sacristans endeavour to turn the PA system off as soon as possible after Mass but it would be prudent to avoid loud conversations particularly in the vicinity of the microphone during the times that the camera is in operation.

WHAT AREA OF THE CHURCH DOES THE CAMERA CAPTURE?

Below are screenshots from the positions the camera can take.   By default, the camera will be set to position 2.  

It may occasionally be set to the other positions.  E.g. the Lectern if we wish to record a specific homily.

CAN I WATCH RECORDINGS OF THE STREAMED MASSES?

Yes – to watch recording go to https://www.churchservices.tv/bishopeton and navigate to the bottom of the screen.   Recordings are kept for 90 days.  The latest 30 recording appear by default, if you wish to view an older recording you can use the search facility.

CAN I DOWNLOAD A RECORDING OF A MASS?

By default, downloading of Masses is disabled.  However, it is possible that for specific events such as a funeral limited (password protected) access to download the funeral could be given.

I DON’T WISH TO APPEAR ON THE LIVE STREAM WHERE CAN I SIT?

None of the camera settings cover the side chapel.   When the camera is in its default position, the side aisles and the back of the church are not picked up by the camera.   However, if you walk up the central aisle or turn to face the back of the church in the first few rows of benches you will be seen on the stream.

IS THE CHURCH BEING STREAMED 24 HOURS A DAY?

No – we only stream scheduled Masses and Services.  Outside of these times you will see a message indicating that no streaming is taking place

ARE ALL FUNERALS STREAMED?

No.  Requiem Masses that take place during the weekly scheduled Masses are normally streamed, though if the family do not want the Mass streamed we can remove from the schedule.

Other Requiem Masses and Funeral Services are streamed if specifically requested by the Family.

If a family would like the funeral streamed but limited to people they know - a password can be added to the stream.

ARE BAPTISMS STREAMED?

We do not normally stream baptisms, to protect the privacy of all the families at the services.  There may be exceptional circumstances where a password protected stream would be considered.

ARE WEDDINGS STREAMED?

Weddings are not currently streamed unless a specific request is made  to do so.

IS THE WEEKLY NOVENA STREAMED?

No - the Novena takes place infront of the Lady Chapel, the streaming camera does not cover this area.

 

At the moment we have no public notices in the porch, this is to avoid people gathering in a confined space. This is under constant review. 

We are not always able to advertise events in the bulletin.  If there is no space in the bulletin it is possible to advertise the event on the website, but to do so the event details and/or poster needs to be in electronic form. Please e-mail such information to the parish office and send a copy to 

HOW CAN I ARRANGE FOR AN ANNOINTING?

In an emergency please call 0151-722-1108.  If someone in hospital needs annointing you can ask the ward staff to call the on call priest.

 

HOW DO I GET SOMEONE ADDED TO THE SICK LIST?

Each week the sick list is published in the newsletter (which is posted on the website and in the porch).  If you would like your name or the name of a friend or relative on the parish list of prayers for those who are sick, please contact the parish office, forms are available in the porch, at reception or by clicking here. This is necessary to make sure the church takes proper care of your information and complies with current data protection law.

Names will only be included for those for whom we have consent.

We request that when someone regains their health  (or dies and they do not live in the parish) thatyou let the office know, so that their name can be removed. 

HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE PARISH FINANCIALLY?

1. CASH or CHEQUE: Offerings can be placed in the basket in the porch after each Mass Cheques can be made payable to: Our Lady of The Annunciation Parish 215.

2: Planned Giving Envelopes: Offerings can either be placed in the basket in the porch after each Mass or can be posted through the letterbox of the Monastery.

3. STANDING ORDER: Offerings made by standing order are unaffected. Any parishioner who wishes to set up a monthly standing order should contact the parish office (on 0151 722 1108 or at ) for a form or click here for an electronic copy.

4. ONLINE: For online giving for one-off or regular monthly donations.

6. Sign up for Gift Aid:

If you pay income tax, please don’t forget to gift aid your donation. For every £1 donated, the parish can reclaim 25p! An easy to use form relating to the gift aid scheme is available via the parish office.

Little Church and Children’s Liturgy:

A celebration of the Liturgy of the Word for children aged 3-11 years.

Parents may attend for the first 2/3 sessions to help their children settle into the group.

Any parent wishing to attend the group regularly, apart from if they are attending solely to assist their child who has a disability, must become a leader or a designated helper and apply for DBS clearance in accordance with the Archdiocesan Safeguarding procedures.

These procedures have been set by the Archdiocese for the protection and safety of the children.

I AM NOT REGISTERED IN THE PARISH, CAN I ATTEND MASS?

Anyone is welcome to attend Mass, or simply stop by and pray in the Church. 

There is no need to book or ask permission just come along - you are most welcome.

Yes, however, certain administrative functions, school admissions etc are based on the parish where you geographically reside.
