FROM FR TIM
TODAY IS THE SOLEMNITY OF SAINTS PETER AND PAUL:
We pray in a special way for Pope Francis and Church of Rome.
Next Sunday afternoon at 3.00pm in the Cathedral Gergely Juhasz will be ordained a Deacon by Archbishop Malcolm. I hope many of you will be able to join us for the occasion. There will be a Pastoral Area reception for him at 7.00pm that evening in St Mary’s Parish Centre. We will arrange our own parish reception on another day.
PASTORAL AREA PRIESTS SWAP:
This weekend we welcome Fr Stephen Pritchard (Parish Priest at Our Lady of the Assumption Gateacre and the Dean of our Pastoral Area) to Bishop Eton. Fr Andrew will cover Speke and Fr Jim Casey and I will cover Halewood.
I will also celebrate the Creation Mass at 10.00am this morning and want to thank Tim Walsh, the catechists, the school and the children for preparing so well for this wonderful initiative.
Speaking of initiatives, there is no doubt that Fr Michael Henesy’s initiative to organise this year’s Novena in preparation for the Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour last Thursday was truly blessed. Once again I want to thank him and all those who worked alongside him for the meticulous care they took in preparing and presenting each evening.
To begin with it was a wonderful example of team ministry and we now have a better understanding of what it means to be “full of grace” and how important it is to be gracious to one another. I am keen to build on the blessings of this event and Fr Henesy has graciously agreed to look after next Wednesday’s Novena Devotions.
We do not plan to make radical changes but we do plan to try a new format over the next few Wednesdays and would welcome some feedback from you before making any permanent decisions.
Thank you to all those who have planned today’s Garden Party and here’s hoping the weather will hold and we will enjoy some more blessed time together.
JUNIOR JUSTICE AND PEACE GROUP:
On Thursday evening, at a special function in Hope University, Archbishop Malcolm presented Faith in Action awards to a number of our members: eleven silver, one bronze and one pin. Congratulations to all concerned.

Could you knit/crochet for a sick person you may never meet?
The idea is that before you start knitting/ crocheting the blanket, or, as you make the blanket (either by yourself or as part of e.g. a knit and natter group), you pray for the sick person who will eventually receive the blanket.
Specification: 60cm x 60cm, any colours, any wools. Blankets are given to each patient at Marie Curie by the chaplain.

Our time together is limited; take every opportunity to love
We are called by God like Peter and Paul. In our case it is to grow in love and unity but, like them, our life of loving each other will end, so it’s important to take every opportunity to love. When we experience being apart, it is not time for blame or self-pity but time for listening and understanding.
