FROM FR TIM
Fr Barrie O'Toole C.Ss.R RIP
FR BARRIE O’TOOLE died peacefully in the early hours of last Tuesday morning. May he rest in peace…
I am happy to say that I was able to get across to Ripon on Monday afternoon and give him the final anointing and the Papal Blessing with Pat, his sister, and other members of the family gathered. He was ready to go but the final parting is always painful and we and the family are grateful for all the messages of sympathy and good will that have already been flowing in. We thank God for his 53 years of priestly ministry and particularly for all he contributed to the life of our two parishes in recent years.
His funeral will be on Tuesday 21 May at noon and his body will be received into the church the previous evening at 7.00pm.
Next weekend we have our First Communion Masses at 10.30am and 3.00pm on Saturday and again on Sunday at 3.00pm. Please note that there will be no noon Mass next Saturday. And please do pray for the children and their families that this will be the beginning of a wonderful new relationship with the Lord and his people, the Church.

World Day of Prayer for Vocations
Today the Church throughout the world prays for vocations. Will you make a special effort to ask the Lord for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life?
- Pray for the priests who have ministered to you throughout your life, both living and dead.
- Keep our parish priests in your prayers throughout the week.
- Encourage your children, grandchildren, or other young people to consider a vocation as a priest or religious brother or sister.
- Pray a rosary for more young men and women in our diocese to respond to God’s call.
- Join an “Invisible Monastery" : Pledge to pray for vocations at the international website, invisiblemonastery.com. It was inspired by a call from the Vatican urging Catholics to “organize an ‘invisible monastery’ in which many persons, day and night, are committed to continuous prayer for priestly vocations.”

MAY DEVOTIONS AT ST MARY'S WOOLTON
During May it has long been the tradition of the Catholic Church to highlight our devotion to Mary and seek her intercession in our lives. Each Thursday at 6:00pm St Mary's will have Rosary followed by Adoration and when possible, Benediction. Prayer life is essential in these changing times and in preparation for Synod 2020.
Every effort will be made for Masses to be said on days and times requested but this is not always possible. Mass intentions that cannot be said publicly will, if possible, be given to one of the Redemptorist confreres.

Fourth Sunday of Easter (Acts 13: 14, 43-52; Revelation 7: 9, 14-17; John 10: 27-30)
We are a light to the world
Most people, when they get married, think their married life is a private affair but Jesus calls us to be a light to the world as a couple. Through our gentleness and tenderness, our readiness to forgive each other, people we meet can experience some qualities of God’s love for them. Living in this way is the vocation of marriage.
