Gift Aid Statements

Gift Aid statements have now been sent out and you should receive them sometime this week. If you have any questions please contact the parish office.

Gergely Juhasz

Gergely Juhasz will be Ordained as Deacon for the Pastoral area on Sunday 7 July at 3.00pm in the Metropolitan Cathedral. Everyone is welcome to come along to support him on this joyous occasion.  

Divine Mercy Prayer Group

Each Friday the Divine Mercy Prayer group meet at 7.30pm in the Hughes Room and everyone is welcome.

Day for Life next Sunday.

Day for Life is the day in the Church’s year dedicated to raising awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in every condition. The Church teaches that life is to be nurtured from conception to natural death. This year the focus is on Domestic Abuse.

NOVENA:

Remember that Fr Michael Henesy with his team is leading the Novena in preparation for the Feast of Our Mother of Perpetual Succour on the 27th of this month. 

Beginning on Wednesday 19 June the Novena will consist simply of a special service each evening at 7.30pm.

Please put this in your diaries and let’s see if we can revive this part of the devotional life of the parish.

This Sunday is the Two Cathedrals PENTECOST CELEBRATIONS.  This years’ celebration will not take the shape of a walk but of a pilgrimage. Next Week the Micah lecture is on  “Populism  and the Politics of Jesus” on Monday and Bishop Paul Bayes is speaking at the Roscoe Lecture on Tuesday at the Philharmonic Hall  entitled “believing in the Public Square…” Details below.

BETHLEHEM UNIVERSITY 

Christian Higher Education in the Palestine/Israel Context
Liverpool Hope University – Taggart Avenue 2.15pm

Hear Br. Peter Bray, Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University share the stories of some of the students and how the University meets the day to day challenges of providing a meaningful higher education in Bethlehem.

This event will also be the launch of The Friends of Bethlehem University - GB,

Summer Fair Fun Day – Mossley Hill Parish Church 2pm-4pm

Come along and enjoy an afternoon of fun together with a BBQ, tea and
scones, ice lollies, games and lots of stall.
We are asking for donations for the following stalls: rafe, tombola, bottle, cakes, jams
and chutneys, unused or nearly new childrens toys and books.  Admission 50p

Plant Sale & Strawberry Tea – Allerton URC 2.30pm – 4.30pm

All Welcome – Come and Join us.  Allerton URC Church at the junction of Mather Avenue and Booker Avenue.  

Sunday 9th June            

Two Cathedrals Pentecost Celebrations  3.00pm – 5.00pm

This Year’s Celebrations will start at the Metropolitan Cathedral with a service at 3pm. From there people are invited to make their own pilgrimage to Liverpool Cathedral while Church Leaders will also be available for a chat after the service on the plaza at the Met.  At Liverpool Cathedral there will be an informal Taizé style service beginning at 4:30pm.

As people make their own way to Liverpool Cathedral,  they are invited to pray in various places along the way.This years’ celebration will not take the shape of a walk but of a pilgrimage. The Micah Lecture 2019

“POPULISM and the POLITICS OF JESUS” - Liverpool Cathedral Lady Chapel  7.00pm – 9.00pm

This year’s Micah Lecture is your opportunity to hear Rev Canon Dr. Angus Richie, Director of the Ecumenical Centre for Theology and Community in East London. The lectures have been based on the verse from Micah 6.8, “God has shown you what is good…and what does the Lord require of you? To act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God”.

CREDIT UNION and RIVERSIDE’S FLOATING SUPPORT

Every Tuesday at St Barnabas 10.30am - Noon

St Barnabas Church host a Lodge Lane Credit Union drop in service in church.  A full range of Credit Union services is available.

There is also a drop-in support service, run by the Riverside Housing Floating Support Team which promotes the wellbeing and independence of vulnerable people in Liverpool.   Advice on matters such as, budgeting, debt management, accessing benefits and finding/sustaining accommodation is available.

Tea and coffee is available between 10.30am and noon.
