IMG 8571Before Mass started an array of items were spotted in the porch.

These items were to be used in the offertory procession and all held a significance.

Just prior to the start of Mass Tim Walsh spoke of his hopes in reducing the carbon footprint of both the parish and the monastery. Anyone wishing to join the 'green team' should contact him on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

During the offertory the children brought up

SOIL

Soil has vital nutrients that enables plants to grow. It also provides somewhere for roots to grow and be stable.

Soil is important for human life, animals and plants. It is beneficial for agriculture, plant growth, fertility and water retention.

WATER

The water in our bodies is essential for life. Without water, we can’t survive.

Water is one of the most important substances on earth. All plants and animals must have water to survive. If there was no water there would be no life on earth.

SEEDS and BULBS

Seeds and bulbs grow and get bigger and become plants, bushes and trees.

Seeds or bulbs store food for plants. They need soil, water and sun to grow.

PLANTS

Plants are really important for the planet and for all living things-they eat them and live in them.

Plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen from their leaves, which humans and other animals need to breathe.

Plants help to clean water too.

FRUIT and VEGETABLESIMG 8606

We need fruit and vegetables as the give us vitamins and minerals. They help protect us against diseases.

SUN

The Sun warms our seas, stirs our atmosphere, generates our weather patterns, and gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food and oxygen for life on earth

RAINBOWS

They are a sign of God’s love and protection over us and our World. The world He created.

PEOPLE

God created man and woman; He gave the world to us to look after. Let us do the best we can.

BREAD and WINE

God loves us so much He sent His only Son to be on earth with us. Jesus gave Himself to us In Bread and Wine our Holy Communion.
