FROM FR TIM:

CONGRATULATIONS TO ARCHBISHOP PATRICK on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee of Ordination this weekend. We have extended our greetings to him as a parish and thanked him for his ministry and friendship here in Bishop Eton. His association with the Redemptorists goes back a long way: he even made his pre-ordination retreat at San Alfonso, our mother house in Rome.

The Annual Civic Mass will be celebrated TODAY by Archbishop Kelly at 3.00pm in the Metropolitan Cathedral. The Mass will also mark the Golden Jubilee of the Archbishop's Ordination. All welcome. Please see poster in the porch for full details.

Confirmation: My thanks to all the parents who were able to make the first meetings to enrol children from years 4,5 and 6 in the primary schools. We estimate that about two thirds of the children who are eligible have been enrolled. I am concerned that everyone understands that we are not just going to "get the children done!" It is a wonderful opportunity for us to build the partnership between families, the schools and the parish. There will be one further opportunity for those who were unable to make the meetings to come and meet with me and enrol their children: the date and time will be in next week's bulletin.

Bishop Tom Williams: Remember Bishop Tom will be making a visit to our parish over next weekend of 25/26 February and he will celebrate and speak at all the Masses. He will visit the Bishop Eton School on Thursday, 1 March.

LENT:

ASH WEDNESDAY is this Wednesday, February 22nd.

Please note that there will be an extra Mass in the evening at 7.30 p.m., which will incorporate the distribution of the ashes and the Novena Devotions.

LEAFLETS with information on the Lenten programme in the Pastoral Area are available. Please take one and do all you can to make this a special time of grace for you, your families and the whole parish.

The Choir at 11.30 Mass: Andrew Sharples will welcome enquiries from potential new members. It will be helpful if you are able to read music. He may contacted at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or on 722 4407. Choir practices will take place on Thursday evenings at 8 p.m. from early March.

Zimbabwe Appeal: Bishop Eton runners again plan to run the Liverpool Half Marathon, on Sunday, 18 March, to raise funds for the Zimbabwe Appeal. Depleted in numbers they would welcome anyone else interested in taking part. For more details contact Andy on 07775 883 867.

One World Group: The Mass next Saturday lunchtime will be for the group and their projects.

Thank you from Rosaleen, John and Louise Bridges to those who attended Leo's Funeral Mass of Thanksgiving and for the many cards and promises of Masses. Mass will be offered for all your intentions.

Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes from Friday, 20—Friday, 27 July. Pilgrims who need help should register as soon as possible and at the latest by 31st March with the Lourdes Pilgrimage Office 727 4000.

Your Journey to Easter (Redemptorist Publications) is available at the back church: Price £1.

CAFOD Lent Fast Day will take place on Friday week and posters and envelopes will be placed in the porch. This Lent, the government will match pound for pound every donation made to CAFOD. A poster answering questions on UK Aid Match is in the porch.

GIFT AID offertory envelopes will be distributed from the Hughes Room after all Masses on 25/26 February and 3/4 March.
