 FROM FR TIM:

The Parish Councils: We have now established the framework of our parish councils for both Bishop Eton and St Mary's. I am very grateful to those who have made themselves available for this work. My hope is that we can lay solid foundations for the future and take time to look at all the aspects of our parish communities. In the New Year each of the departments will begin to look at what needs doing to ensure that we are indeed communities that are flourishing. Undoubtedly the council members will be looking for help and support. If you are approached and you are in position to help, I am sure you will respond generously with your time and talents. Early next year we will furnish you with details of all those who are on the parish councils and display their photographs, so should you wish to volunteer you will know who has taken responsibility for what.

Reconciliation: I will speak at all the Masses this weekend about the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Redemptorist community has agreed to provide every opportunity in the run up to Christmas for those who wish to make their confession, so please note the details on the flyers. In summary there will be three reconciliation services (in different churches in the Pastoral Area) during the final week before Christmas. Also from tomorrow a priest will be available in the confessional after every weekday Mass.

Advent and Christmas: Please remember the flyers, giving details of all the Advent and Christmas Masses and Services for both Bishop Eton and St Mary's, Woolton. Please do take as many as you need and spread them far and wide. Also there are many posters in the porch advertising events during Advent and Christmas. Please take the time to read them and see which may be of interest to you.

Zimbabwe Christmas Project: Support for our Redemptorist communities in Zimbabwe has been outstanding here in Bishop Eton. Available are gift vouchers (akin to Oxfam and CAFOD vouchers) to support Brother Benjamin's Feeding Project. Please see the poster in the porch. A £10 voucher will feed a child-headed household or a group of AIDS orphans for a month. We ran out of them last week, but more are now on the table in the porch with the poster. Please hand in donations to the Monastery.

Missals: At the time of going to press there are just a handful of the new Sunday Missals left. Once they have been sold, I suggest you order directly from Redemptorist Publications. I know they are out of stock but a new print should be in the warehouse just before Christmas.

Catholic Directory 2011 available at £3 per copy. Religious Calendars at £1.20 each and diaries at £1.

Archbishop Patrick's Golden Jubilee of Ordination A specially designed Crozier, by the artist Raphael Seitz, has been commissioned as a personal gift on this special occasion. If any parishioners would like to make a personal contribution toward the Diocesan gift we will have a retiring collection after all Masses on this weekend.

RCIA/Journey in Faith continues in partnership with St Mary's on Tuesday 13 December at 8.00pm. This will be the last session before Christmas.

Wednesday Lunch will take place on 14 December at 12.30pm in the Fisher-More Hall. All welcome.

Annual Christmas Flower Evening will take place on Sunday 18 December at 7.00pm in the Fisher-More Hall for those who have bought tickets.

Archbishop Patrick will lead a Service of Reconciliation on Saturday 17 December at 3.00pm in the Crypt Chapel and a Grandparents Day Mass Celebration at 11.00am in the Cathedral. All welcome.

Cathedral Christmas Carol Service on Sunday 18 December at 5.00pm. The whole family is welcome.

Mother Theresa Missionaries of Charity invite you to a Christmas Prayer Service with a Christmas play and carol singing on Sunday 18 December at 2.00pm on Church Street, City Centre, in front of the Christmas Tree.

Annual CAFOD Fun Run on Tuesday 27 December. Please see poster in the porch or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or click here for more information.
