FROM FR TIM:
The Parish Council: Last Sunday evening we had an excellent meeting with 24 people present. Mrs Alison McDonald was elected unopposed to chair the meetings and various people agreed to head up and support the different interest groups. As and when the need arises we may well need to co-opt other parishioners to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Judging by the good will and energy in the group on Sunday I am greatly heartened and feel confident that we can move forward with a new sense of purpose and conviction.
Advent and Christmas: Available this weekend are thousands of flyers, giving details of all the Advent and Christmas Masses and Services for both Bishop Eton and St Mary's, Woolton. Please do take as many as you need and spread them around the district. I hope and pray they will reduce to a minimum the number of calls asking what time Midnight Mass will be!
Zimbabwe Christmas Project: Support for our Redemptorist communities in Zimbabwe has been outstanding here in Bishop Eton. Available today are gift vouchers to support Brother Benjamin's Feeding Project. Please see the poster in the porch and if you are able purchase a £10 voucher, which will feed a child-headed household or group of AIDS orphans for a month. If we need more vouchers we can easily obtain more.
New Missals (from RP) continue to be available at the special price of £15 (saving £4.95)
The Adventures of Freddie Freckles (£5) and Fr Tim's other book, Take Heart (£9), will be available for the next couple of weeks after Mass. People have been enquiring: maybe they will offer another option when it comes to Christmas presents?
Confirmation: Congratulations to all our young people who were confirmed on Wednesday evening. It was a memorable service in the Cathedral. My thanks to their families and the catechists for all their help in the preparation. The candidates raised £300 so far from their fundraiser. All outstanding sponsorship money and any donations please pass into the parish office.
Marriage Preparation: My thanks to the teams who on Thursday evening at St Mary's and Saturday morning in Bishop Eton met with those due to be married in our churches in the coming year.
There are many posters in the porch advertising many events during Advent and Christmas. Please take the time to read them all.
