From Friday 16 September 2011, which marks the anniversary of Pope Benedict’s visit, the Bishops of England and Wales are asking us all to renew our commitment to Friday abstinence. The hope is that by uniting in a common form of penance, we will support one another and witness to the wider world our desire to be united with Christ in his Passion.
