CARDINALS NICHOLS – ON REDEDICATION OF ENGLAND TO MARY

FHL logoFRIENDS OF THE HOLY LAND.

The coronavirus outbreak in Bethlehem is having a devastating effect, causing people to lose their incomes due to lack of tourism. We are launching an appeal to provide one-off support to the most needy Christian families affected.

Brendan Metcalffe the Executive Director of Friends of the Holy Land in a recent email said

As the coronavirus crisis tightens its grip on the UK, I reach out to you, your family and your friends. I am keenly aware that there are challenging times ahead for us all, however, in the UK we are most fortunate to have the support of a world-leading health service and the resources of a developed economy to cushion the economic impact. As you are aware from the message of our Bethlehem Appeal, the picture in Bethlehem over the last 3 weeks has been very different and as the crisis spreads through the West Bank, Gaza, Israel and Jordan we expect the lives of our Christian brothers and sisters to be devastated and hence our appeal for additional support will need to be widened.

To donate or to find out more go to https://www.friendsoftheholyland.org.uk/news/news/coronavirus-outbreak-bethlehem---an-appeal

PARISH FUNDING DURING THE CORONAVIRUS LOCKDOWN

- a message from the Bishop Eton Finance Team (on behalf of Fr Tim)

Approximately half of the Parish income comes from Parishioners who have a monthly standing order in place, with the other half coming from the collections at Sunday Mass, comprising planned giving (envelopes) and cash.

In light of the Coronavirus lockdown, we would like to share a thought with each of those groups of  Parishioners:

We are acutely aware that some will be experiencing financial hardship at present, thus we would fully understand if any Parishioners decided to temporarily suspend their monthly standing order to Bishop Eton

With no Sunday Mass during the period that all churches will be closed, the Parish will receive significantly less income. In addition, the reduction in income will materially outweigh any reduction in expenditure, resulting in an ongoing weekly deficit.

In these circumstances, would like to invite those Parishioners who normally give to the weekly collection at Sunday Mass, both envelopes and cash, to consider setting up a monthly standing order for an equivalent amount.

Please contact us by email - address below - and we will provide you with the relevant account details.

Many thanks for your ongoing support and prayers.
