BE-Green - Living Simply
BE GREEN 2020 Patron: Fr Casey
Bishop Eton Parish living simply, sustainably with creation and in solidarity with the poor
The table below summarises the results of the “saint or sinner” environmental survey conducted at all Masses on Sunday 12 January 2020.
The results from the four congregations are amazingly consistent, with an overall score from the Parish of 6.5 out of 10. When we re-run the survey at the end of the year, we are hoping to see an increase in this score.
Remember, 10 = saint (completely faultless), while 1 = sinner (the only way is up).
Parishioners at 8.30am and 11.30am Masses currently consider themselves a little more saintly in these matters than those attending the 6pm Mass, with the 10.00am attendees somewhere in between.
On average, Parishioners at all Masses consider that they are good at recycling, whilst the lowest marks were recorded to the question “at present I support parish charities through taking part.” One of the aims of BE Green 2020 is to promote all of the various Parish charities which are inspired by a desire to help those living in poverty.

Over the course of the year we are aiming to achieve the CAFOD Live Simply Award, which requires the Parish to:
BE GREEN meeting 17th September 2019
The first BE Green meeting was held on September 17th 2019 at it four members of the Justice and Peace Group shared with us some thoughts which had been collated by Lizzie H.
1. As the Justice & Peace Youth Group to the Parishes of Bishop Eton and St Mary’s, we would like to share with you our thoughts and concerns that we have shared together.
2. Environmental changes and global warming mean that our lives as adults could be different to yours today, as we won’t have half as many opportunities as you all have today.

List of the ideas generated at the launch meeting held on 17 September 2019
On the 17 September 2019 the BE Green Project was launched. Fr Casey led us in prayer before a series of presentations and some brainstorming. A list of ideas was generated. This list will be shortlisted and we will attempt to become a Live Simply Community. Live Simply is a CAFOD initiative.
